This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Vince Lebon, founder and CEO of Rollie Nation footwear, Victoria University alumni and 2024 Executive in Residence 🔥 Vince shared his incredible journey with students from Featherbrook College and Islamic College of Melbourne, from growing up in the Western Suburbs, to his success in design and business. It was also a great opportunity for students to engage with Vince on their own projects and gain valuable career and industry insights. A huge thank you to Vince for inspiring the next generation of innovators, and to Victoria University for nurturing such impactful partnerships! 🤝 Learn more 🌟 https://lnkd.in/gPp-ZQWm

A big and welcome step over the weekend - the Federal Government announced it is providing immediate and future relief for students who are struggling with HECS/HELP loans and VET training and apprenticeship support loans. In addition, there will be funding for 'placement payments' for teaching, nursing and social work students who are required to undertake unpaid practical placements (sometimes up to 26 weeks!) as part of their degrees. This funding will go directly towards addressing cost of living pressures and barriers to higher and VET education. These changes are a direct result of the Universities Accord final report released in February. While there is still a way to go towards implementation of these and other recommendations, many of VU's 45,000 students will directly benefit. Jason Clare MP Universities Australia
